Long before Bavarian Werk Shop opened its doors, Wayne was the kind of person who wanted to understand how things worked, how they could be improved, and what separated something properly prepared from something that was simply good enough. That competitive mindset started early and eventually developed into a career centered around European vehicles, performance, diagnostics, and motorsports—with BMWs becoming a particular specialty along the way.
From Two Wheels to Four
Wayne’s involvement in motorsports actually started before his professional automotive career.
He began racing mountain bikes and karts, developing an early appreciation for competition, preparation, and the constant pursuit of improvement. Whether on two wheels or four, racing taught him that performance rarely comes from one big change. It comes from understanding the equipment, paying attention to the details, and making everything work together.
Karting provided a natural transition toward automotive motorsports, while competitive mountain biking reinforced the mechanical curiosity and determination that would follow Wayne throughout his career.
Eventually, that passion for competition became closely connected with another growing interest: European performance cars.
Building a Career Around Cars
Wayne’s automotive career has taken him through several performance-focused shops, including RRT Racing, Patriot Race Engineering, Tampa AutoSports, and Car Locker. Those experiences exposed him to everything from everyday diagnostics and repair to performance preparation, restoration, specialty vehicles, and the unique demands of enthusiast-owned automobiles.
His time at RRT was particularly influential. Working in an environment heavily connected to the BMW enthusiast and motorsports communities helped Wayne develop both his technical knowledge and his understanding of what serious enthusiasts expect from the people working on their cars.
For Wayne, it was never enough to simply replace parts until a problem disappeared. Understanding the vehicle, diagnosing it correctly, and finding the right solution became fundamental to the way he approached automotive service.
That philosophy remains at the center of Bavarian Werk Shop today.
From Karting to Endurance Racing
The competitive drive that began with mountain bikes and karts eventually found its way into full-size race cars.
Motorsports have played an important role throughout Wayne’s automotive career, including involvement with NASA and American Endurance Racing (AER). Endurance racing in particular creates an entirely different relationship with a vehicle. Speed matters, but reliability, preparation, consistency, and teamwork are what allow a car to keep circulating hour after hour.
Components are pushed harder, preparation matters more, and small details can determine whether a car finishes the weekend or ends up back on the trailer.
That experience reinforced something Wayne already believed:

Preparation, preventative maintenance, careful inspection, and understanding how systems work together are just as important on a customer’s performance car as they are on a race car.
It is a philosophy that naturally carried over into Bavarian Werk Shop.
Why Bavarian Werk Shop?
Wayne founded Bavarian Werk Shop to create the kind of European specialty shop he believes enthusiasts should have access to—knowledgeable, personal, technically capable, and genuinely invested in the vehicles it maintains.
The goal was never simply to build another repair shop.
Bavarian Werk Shop was created for people who care about their cars.
That might mean keeping a BMW daily driver reliable well beyond 100,000 miles. It could mean maintaining an M car exactly the way an enthusiast wants it maintained, sorting a Porsche for weekend drives, improving the performance of a favorite vehicle, or managing an entire collection so every car is ready when its owner wants to use it.
Whatever the vehicle, the approach is the same: understand it, maintain it correctly, document its history, and treat it like something worth preserving.
More Than Cars
Of course, there is more to Wayne than what happens inside the shop.
Wayne married Jessica Bortolini in 2015, and they welcomed their son, Luca, in 2019. Family is an important part of his life outside Bavarian Werk Shop and provides some balance to a career that has included plenty of weekends at racetracks and plenty of late nights around cars.
He is also a longtime animal lover and advocate for animal rights, with a particular soft spot for pit bulls.
Those who know Wayne personally know that the passion he brings to cars is simply part of a larger personality. When he believes in something, he tends to be all in.
Cars just happen to have been one of those things for a very long time.
A Shop Built for Enthusiasts
Bavarian Werk Shop represents the culmination of Wayne’s experiences—from racing mountain bikes and karts to the shop floor, diagnostic bay, BMW enthusiast community, and endurance racing.
It also represents his belief that owning an exceptional automobile should come with access to people who understand why that automobile matters to you.
